Knights fights in the Insterburg castle

Продолжительность: 8 hours

If you wish to deep into the atmosphere of Medieval Age, to see the Prussian legend and knights’ fights alive we would like to offer you a fascinating trip to Chernyakhovsk /Insterburg. The town is located in 90 km from Kaliningrad.

You will have the opportunity to hear the clank of arms and armors as it was six centuries ago. The castle Insterburg was founded in 1336 by the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order Dietrich von Altenburg; it was an Old Prussian area Nadrovia. German, French and English knights went from there to war campaigns against their neighbors- pagans.

Knights’ incursions ended only in 1525 when the “Eternal Peace” was made in Krakow. In 1632 for a year Insterburg was the residence of the Great Elector George Wilhelm who was tired of perpetual arguments between Genevans and Lutherans in Berlin and Koenigsberg. In 1643-1648 a wayward widow of Swedish King Gustav Adolph, Maria Eleanor, stayed in the Castle. During the last war the Castle was badly destroyed. But despite this its old traditions are restored nowdays.
